         YOUNG ARTS

The founder of  NADFAS, Patricia Fay, was interested in all aspects of the arts and was passionate about young people being given a chance to enjoy what she considered a life-enhancing interest. Thus one of the aims of our Society is to inspire young people with a lasting enthusiasm for the arts and an awareness of our arts heritage and its conservation.

For general information about these activities click NADFAS  and then Young Arts on the Home Page.

Nidd Valley DFAS’s most recent projects in this field include:

2007 Harrogate Choral Society’s Young Singers’ Workshop
a grant for accompanist’s fees.

2008 Harrogate Youth Theatre – a grant to purchase a video camera and a set of theatre masks.
We were very pleased to be given a video of their production “The Book of Everything”. Some of us were invited to attend the performance which  we did with great enjoyment.
The theatre masks are to be used in schools.

September 2008-January 2009 – we sponsored a booklet for young people to accompany an exhibition at the
Mercer Gallery entitled “On Abstraction”.
This booklet was not only an aide-memoire of the exhibition; many of the works are owned by the Gallery, and can be seen again in the future.

2011 - we introduced the Nidd Valley NADFAS Fine Art Prize.
