 VOLUNTEERING
Heritage Volunteers
This year we continued our stewarding at Markenfield Hall during
the  “Open Season” in May and June, alongside the members from
Harrogate Fine Art Group. This is always very popular with our
members, who have been participating since the Hall opened its doors
to the Public. Both Ian and Lady Deirdre Curteis really appreciate our
efforts.

Three members of the Society continue to conserve books at the
Leeds Subscription Library alongside members from Leeds, Harrogate,
Saltaire and Halifax Societies. A very happy team.
On the Library’s Open Day in September, members of the Group
showed the public how the books were preserved, thus raising their
awareness of NADFAS’s involvement.

We have now started our own project at the Second World War
Experience Centre at Walton, near Wetherby.
Currently eight members are preparing memorabilia sent to the
Centre by members of the public, to be digitalised. This information
can then be accessed by schools, Historic Societies, television and
theatre companies.
Looking at the amount of material available, we could be there for a
very long time.
